George Kurisky was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 5, 1963. He is a 1985 graduate of the College of William & Mary in Virginia with a B.A. in Sociology. He is a 1989 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center where he served as Editor-In-Chief of The Houston Journal of International Law. George was admitted to the Texas bar in 1989 and the Maryland Bar in 1993. He is also admitted to practice before the Southern, Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas. George is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association, as well as the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Texas Association of Bank Counsel. George’s primary practice areas include corporate transactions, creditors’ rights and commercial litigation. On behalf of business clients, George represents primarily small to medium size and emerging businesses. This practice includes all aspects of corporate work including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and restructuring. With regard to bankruptcy practice, George has concentrated his efforts on a creditor-oriented practice on a regional and national level. George’s commercial litigation practice includes a variety of matters including corporate governance and shareholder disputes, breach of contract, creditors’ rights and collection matters as well as adversary proceedings and contested matters before the United States Bankruptcy Courts.
