Tom was born in Houston, Texas on August 24, 1964. He received his B.B.A. from Baylor University in 1986 and his juris doctorate degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1989. Tom was admitted to the Texas bar in 1989 and is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals fo the Fifth Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.

Although Tom's primary area of practice is in commercial litigation, he also has litigation experience in the following areas: personal injury claims, transportation claims, probate matters, creditors' rights, insurance coverage disputes, bad faith claims, employment diputes and toxic tort claims. Tom has also handled appeals to Texas state courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
